I've read thousand of blogs over the internet ever since I started scribbling my finger on this keyboard. One of the many things that anchored in my mind is "quality content". Some people write, because they have "something to say", and some people write because they just want to "say something". Do these two reasons for writing have a great impact on quality content?

Well I think the term "quality" is highly subjective considering people have many different tastes and preferences. What I think is quality could be considered junk to you. So I would say that quality content is what the majority of people can agree is quality which are things/topics that people can gain the most from. For example what you consider quality is something that is useful to you and in the case of most bloggers that tends to be info on how to be successful at blogging.
I see your point. I see a lot in the "Say Something" Catagory are using the blog world to make money, which is damn had to do as we know, unless your a marketing type.
You can see these types when you open the blog and have to pass lot of links, link exchanges, rss feeds and advertising. Once you get to their content, there is just babble.
The only criteria to have a blog is internet access. Bloging now is like chatting. Back in the early 90's. you could go online and meet some really nice people with similar interests. I had made many friends. Then the net got so big, a chatroom became the land of perverts in "whisperland" and girls private messing you with a link to a porn site.
But in everything, you need to cut through the weeds to find a flower.
"Quality" is incredibly subjective - what I like to read may be boring to others, and vice versa. I generally stick to the principal of writing/blogging about what you enjoy.
Part of the quality of a blog, however, pertains to correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, as well as no automatically playing music/videos or other things people might find obnoxious (bright flashing colors all over the screen, for instance). You do want people to stick around for a bit, after all.
I am alex madlangbayan from the Philippines. I think that quality content depends on how a particular article makes an impact into someone else' life. A particular content may not be important for one reader but may be very valuable to others. It's really hard to qualify quality content. If beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, maybe it also follows that quality of the content in a particular blog lies on the reader.

Well, having something to say is much different than having something important to discuss. I think it's alright for people to express themselves by blogging as long as it's for a good reason and there is a moral behind it. Everything else is just loco. Quality content should discuss something meaningful in a properly detailed way, however, something meaningful to one blogger could be very unimportant to another.
Yes, on principle, I agree that quality is very subjective. When we Blog or writing, we are targeting for a specific market, segment or group of people. My site is mainly targeted for beginners in internet marketing. So, I think ‘quality’ of my site should evolve around ‘how to’ and ‘why’. I’ve just migrated to dot com site from Blogspot recently, and still in the process of revamping, rearranging and rephrasing my posts. However, I’ve seen good response in terms of feed. Within 7 days last week, my Statpress & Google analytical showed that 14 new subscriptions through feed.
I would like to share one important thing about Blogging. It’s about the model of the site. Every successful site should have a capture page. This is where you put an email subscription form. From here, you can make & arrange a separate list of potential ‘customers’ where you can send weekly or monthly email marketing. You can market and sell a specific type of products, services, ideas to different group of customers. Feel free to visit my site at http://sfjmillionaires.com
How about this: I have something to say, but I say anything in hopes of creating something of quality. Now, about quality: you can decipher if a blog reeks of quality as opposed to one that is vacant of such. It's a like being in love, you just know.
I would agree that quality content is subjective. That is the reason that when we do blogging, we have to do it in our own niche. I am a startup blogger blogging on Technology related areas with focus on ICT solutions. So if you have original and up to date articles then you have what it takes.
If you're into photography, arts or music, go to my blog and all you can see are boring articles about computers and what not... but I would gladly invite you all anyways lol: http://www.korabtech.com
